Nukus- beutiful and historical place

The city of Nukus is the capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and its economic, administrative and cultural center. Nukus city is located in the southern part of the lower Amudarya river, in the heart of sandy expanses. From the geographical point of view, the city is successfully located in the middle of the republic. From here through modern highways can be reached to the every locality of the republic.

City is intercrossed by a large main canal named "Kizketken". In 1999 it was built a huge bridge across the Amudarya connecting the cities of Nukus and Khodjeyli. 

Nukus is one of the youngest, modern and fast developing cities of our country. There are plenty of luxurious administrative, cultural and services buildings, residential centers, medical, educational and sports buildings in the city. The city has a number of large industrial enterprises, banks, branches of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Arts, Unions of writers, composers and architects, theaters and museums, film studious, as well as mass media structures.

In 2003, Nukus city celebrated its 70th anniversary and was awarded with a medal “Dustlik” by the Decree of the President Islam Karimov for its contributed to the development of the country, great achievements in various spheres of socio-economic life, as well as its contributed to strengthening international and intercultural consent.
